$30 per ticket - SOLD OUT!
The 9th concert in the York Place Musical Salon.
About the Event
December Jazz can be a dicey proposition… will the band overindulge in seasonal material? Will the listener go home feeling queasy, as they might after just a bit too much turkey and stuffing? Never fear, kind audience, the Indigo Jazz trio has exceptional portion control!
Expect a main course of classic swing, blues, ballads, and Latin favourites – the likes of Out of Nowhere, The Way You Look Tonight, Old Devil Moon, Recado Bossa Nova – with a side of cool takes on Christmas and winter. Lightfoot’s Song For A Winter’s Night, Vince Guaraldi’s lovely waltz from A Charlie Brown Christmas, and a funky version of Who Will Buy? from the musical Oliver are all on the menu.
John, Rick and Dale look forward to swinging in the season with you.
About the Musicians
Dale Graham draws listeners in with her personable style and smooth, warm voice. She moves right in to the heart of a song, fully committing to a poignant ballad like Blame It On My Youth, then switching up to the playful swing of Cole Porter’s It’s DeLovely, or a light-hearted Brazilian samba like O Pato. Dale’s combination of artistry, craft and entertaining style has garnered her a strong following.
Rick Husband plays guitar with harmonic insight and strong rhythmic command. In this trio setting, his fidelity to the feel of each tune shapes the arrangements beautifully. He brings a wealth of musical experience, having performed for many years in mainstream and trad jazz groups as well as big bands, in Victoria and the Comox Valley.
John Hyde has been a freelance bassist since 1972. Formerly Artistic Director of the Jazz Studies Program at Mount Royal College, and past President of the Calgary Musicians’ association, he has numerous recording, arranging and producing credits with Amos Garrett, Sheri-D Wilson, The Tanya Kalmanovitch Trio, Senator Tommy Banks, Karl Roth, Tim Tamashiro, Jann Arden and many others.
